Time to Sum Up the Big Year of the Citizen

After Halloween, I find New Year's Eve to be my least favorite holiday. Why U ask? Ok, then, here are the top five reasons - I'm a morning person, so making it to mid-nite is a lot of work; I dislike loud noises, and particularly dislike blowing noisemakers; I still remember my Dad marching me and Bro. out on the front steps at mid-nite to bang on big pots with kitchen ladles; (noise again, but to what end?) Every other month of each year has a last day on the calendar, but gets no similar recognition, and now, the Number One Reason to Hate New Year's Eve - we all start working on filing federal tax returns the following weekend.

So, instead of celebrating this most artificial (and least spiritual, as we few Christians shut down the Christ BD celebration too soon) of holiday's, I will say to U all out there in Electronville - Remember the Maine, Remember the Alamo, Remember Pearl Harbor, Remember 911, and mostly, please keep in your thoughts and prayers our military men and women now in harm's way, who on Friday at mid-nite would love to hear only the sounds of blowing noisemakers, and not the noise of mortar or rifle fire.

God or the Fates Bless America and keep her 310 million citizens informed (more so by me), involved and resolute in safeguarding the Republic in 2011, as the last best hope of mankind.
