Time to Sum Up the Big Year of the Citizen

After Halloween, I find New Year's Eve to be my least favorite holiday. Why U ask? Ok, then, here are the top five reasons - I'm a morning person, so making it to mid-nite is a lot of work; I dislike loud noises, and particularly dislike blowing noisemakers; I still remember my Dad marching me and Bro. out on the front steps at mid-nite to bang on big pots with kitchen ladles; (noise again, but to what end?) Every other month of each year has a last day on the calendar, but gets no similar recognition, and now, the Number One Reason to Hate New Year's Eve - we all start working on filing federal tax returns the following weekend.

So, instead of celebrating this most artificial (and least spiritual, as we few Christians shut down the Christ BD celebration too soon) of holiday's, I will say to U all out there in Electronville - Remember the Maine, Remember the Alamo, Remember Pearl Harbor, Remember 911, and mostly, please keep in your thoughts and prayers our military men and women now in harm's way, who on Friday at mid-nite would love to hear only the sounds of blowing noisemakers, and not the noise of mortar or rifle fire.

God or the Fates Bless America and keep her 310 million citizens informed (more so by me), involved and resolute in safeguarding the Republic in 2011, as the last best hope of mankind.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Joy to Unbelievers

Despite a chorus of clamoring for more blog posts since Random Thoughts went on hiatus before Thanksgiving, (ok, that statement was hyperbole - only Big Al has demanded publication, but he did so TWICE), rest assured that your Humble Blogger has not been afflicted with writer's block. Instead, a loyal, if misguided client, has called upon me to utilize the power of my written advocacy to convince a Agency of the Federal government to do the right thing by them. Oh well, it is the Season of Miracles after all.

Turning then to what's really important, the lads of Davidson College will play St. Johns (formerly Redmen, now Red Storm) in the World's Most Famous Arena Monday nite, by which time all Americans hope that Congress will have adjourned, so the Republic will again be safe.

As we feel this Joy at the closing of the 111th Congress, and the commencement of the final two year's of the Obama Administration, many hosannas have been earned by noteworthy Americans, who put country above self interest, party, regional favor or advantage - our brave military men and women volunteering to go into harm's way; one Federal Judge in Virginia saying no to the Obamacare Mandate, which would be the death knell of personal freedom, and to the millions of informed voters who said no to endless trillion dollar federal deficits.

So to All, I say Peace on Earth and Goodwill to everyone.

Hey, Don't Touch My Junk

"Hey man, touch my junk, I'm going to have you arrested." This young man -- in refusing to be subjected to TSA groping of his "privates", after refusing to be nude scanned at the LAX Airport earlier this week -- surely is our generation's Paul Revere, or just another California guy in need of self-esteem counseling. Come on, what "Junk" is he talking about?

Please, President Obama, stop the madness. Intrusive pre-boarding screening should be intelligently targeted based only upon objective threat factors raising the probability that the putative passenger is a terrorist, preparing for an immediate attack on America.

TSA now arbitrarily selects every tenth passenger for enhanced pre-boarding body screening. Why? We are not at war with every 10th airport traveller; We are at war with radical Islamic jihadists. Accordingly, TSA experts should interview passengers fitting the profile of the previous 200 or so terrorists who have attacked us. This is not racial profiling; indeed, it is the exclusive means to stop the absolutely useless harassment of 85 year old nuns and 8 year old girls from offensive groping due only to their misfortune to have been the tenth person in line for routine screening. I am very tired of being "defended" by cowards afraid to offend arab-looking, young male travelers, but not bothered at all by assaulting sexually thousands of obviously harmless Americans, both very old and very young, and those without sufficient self-esteem. Just saying ...

Let the Good Times Roll Again

As your Humble Blogger has noted in this forum often, the Universe has a way of comforting the Just and not Evil Doers. I say "the Force" protects some, more than others, simply because of the power of Positive vs. Negative Karma.

Accordingly, here is my year fourth quarter tally of infinite justice. Bart Favre - head exploded, again. Brad Childress - got Favre's brains all over his face. Air Force Academy - Winner of the Commander-in-Chief Trophy. Dallas Cowboys - dead with head coach buried. Jerry Jones - owner of the Greatest Ego Edifice in All of History, with no legitimate NFL team to play in it.

Now for the Good: Davidson College commences its 103rd year of Division I Men's Basketball Saturday nite at the great shrine to BB, the Palestra in Philadelphia. My first hand, court side account of this amateur tussle will appear in this space early Sunday morning. So, to all you have been burdened by the cares of this crazy world, be of good cheer, the 'Cats are back on the Prowl.

After the Cheering Stops - Buy gold

Yes, loyal listeners, Elections do have Consequences. Accordingly, I offer three certainties:

(1) President Obama will now focus on his Administration's only job, which is JOBS, JOBS, JOBS. Oh wait, he said that he will start to focus on jobs after returning from his 10 day trip to India (to see the festival of lights) Indonesia (to see the statute of himself) and South Korea (to see where the North Korean Navy sunk a RSK vessel, with no consequences, as killing dozens of innocents is not an election). This "Happening" is reported to include a 3000 person presidential entourage, forty-four US warships and a cost to taxpayers in excess of 500 million dollars. At least Mr. Obama didn't tell us that he knows that the electorate wants him to stop spending (our money, not his own) beyond the nation's ability to pay as we go.

(2) The MSM will continue to extoll President Clinton as the one sure thing as a political force in the Democratic Party. Why you ask? Beats me, as just about everything Bubba touches turns to complete SH*T. First, he moves in to shore up Pa.'s "Magic Bullet" turncoat senator, by offering a no pay job to Joe Sestak. Then, after that fiasco, he embraced the loser Admiral in his contest against Senator-Elect Toomey. Third, Bubba goes south to try to dump his very good buddy, Congressman Meeks, asking him to drink a cup of hemlock, in favor of turncoat Charlie Crist. Well, I imagine Hillary can't wait for her Better Half to take the reigns of her soon to be launched bid to dump the Non-Anointed One-Half.

(3) The Federal Reserve, our nation's Central Bank, will go into its basement, print more than 600,000,000,000.00 (over six hundred billion dollars) to purchase newly issued Treasury Bonds. As the ChiComs no longer want our ever cheaper dollars, we are forced to buy our own federal debt by just printing paper with no backing whatsoever. If such a ploy sounds unprecedented, it is not. See, Weimar Republic, 1920s Germany, when no economic activities were behind a massive expansion of paper money ("Marks"), run away inflation resulted, forcing people using wheelbarrows to carry sufficient currency to the market to buy a loaf of bread. So, my friends, Buy Gold (or wheelbarrows) now.

To All Americans, I say Congratulations

Yes, it is again morning in America. Today, we can all say to Ben Franklin: "We have kept the Republic strong and alive through the imperfect, but best possible way - the withdrawal of the consent of the governed to the ruling party by voting in the Party of the Outs." And with no shots fired and no tanks in the streets, the Party of the "Ins" will peaceably leave office.

Today, I am assured that there are no Republicans, no Democrats, no Tea Party members, and most certainly no political enemies, nor even opponents this morning. We all are Americans today; we can now come together in unity to confront our very real enemies abroad who are seeking to murder as many Americans as they can. We can come together in unity to confront the very real challenges at home that threaten the health and welfare of even more millions.

My vote yesterday, and even more strongly this morning, is for all Americans to unite behind limited government which balances its budget, to allow everyone to achieve his own life goals, not the life path chosen for each of us in far away and hidden bureaucrat offices.

Hey Dude, Take Your Endorsement and Shove It

It's now fifty-four hours w/o. sleeping; Jon Runyan demands nothing less of us and of himself, I know. But enuff already about my tirelessness. This morning's Clarion Call is much greater in scope, as it is, after all, "Morning in America" again, because witchcraft aside, the Tea Party Movement is ascendent on November 2, 2010. Why U ask? Because Americans believe in themselves, and not in faraway bureaucrats solving our economic troubles by imposing tens of thousands of pages of new across-the-board, nation-wide employment stifling regulations.

Nonetheless, while the Nation is focused almost exclusively on domestic issues, the World beyond our borders continues to spin out of control, and not in America's favor. Look again at this Post's ironic title - two examples of Presidential shrinkage that have not gone unnoticed in Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and even in, dare I say, France. I remember well the horde of editorial cartoons showing President Jimmy Carter sitting at his Oval Office desk, getting smaller and smaller with each daily cartoon. Our nation's enemies took President Carter's measure, found him too weak to deter attacks on America, so more than 100 U.S. diplomats were held hostage in Tehran, Iran for, it seemed, forever.

Well loyal listeners, history is repeating itself again. So, all you Rush acolytes out there cheering on the "failure" of President Obama, think again. The world will not wait until 2012 to aggressively challenge our interests abroad. First, the Demo candidate for Governor in Rhode Island tells Mr. Obama: "Take your endorsement and shove it." Then, only a day later comedian Jon Stewart tells Barry to his face: "don't go with that phrase, Dude." Such overt disrespect and absolutely nothing happens to the disrespecters. (Let me be clear, I am not advocating any punitive responses against anyone exercising 1st Amendment Rights).

Nonetheless, America is being put at great risk, having our only Commander-in-Chief seen world-wide as a wimp, a midget, a "leader' who no one fears or follows. So, as we all go to the polls on Tuesday, and I urge u to go early and go often, remember no one should needlessly ridicule or belittle President Obama. Funny isn't it that the two best examples of this dangerous conduct emanated from the far left wing of the Democratic Party. Just saying ...

One Nation, Under God, with Liberty and Justice for All

Let me be Frank here for one moment, er, I mean totally candid. While I did vote for Senator Barry Hussein Obama, just once, I did not support his presidential candidacy in the 2008 general election. Why U ask? My preference is for the Presidency of the United States to be occupied by an experienced executive with a substantial real world business/military background.

Let's face it, the toughest job in the free world is just not an entry level position. Mr. Obama's background consisted mainly of academic teaching, community organizing and voting "Present" hundreds of time in the Illinois Legislature. Despite his "Not Ready for Prime Time" posture, I remained hopeful, optimistic even, that as President, Mr. Obama would be an inspirational, unifying leader, bringing our nation together in a post-partisan era of all Americans seeking consensus and fair compromise for the common good. I based my trust in Mr. Obama's leadership prowess (when he was thrust upon the national stage at the 2004 Demo. Convention) on his vow to stop the DC vitriol and bring us all together as one people:

"The pundits like to slice and dice our country into Red States and Blue States
... But I've got news for them, too. We worship an "awesome God" in the Blue
States and we don't like federal agents poking through our libraries in the Red
States. There are patriots ...in both the Red and Blue States. We are ONE PEOPLE,
all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United
States of America." Keynote Address; 7/27/04.

That was then, this is now: Yesterday, President Obama on the campaign trail:

"If Latinos sit out the election, instead of saying: 'We're going to punish our enemies
and we're going to reward our friends'. [Republicans] aren't the kind of people
who represent our core American values." 10/25/10 Univision Radio Speech.

I know, as an absolute historical truth, that Richard Nixon earned his designation as the most reviled and mistrusted President in my lifetime because he was a hater, a divisive pol who created the infamous "Enemies List" of people he directed his Administration to punish, corruptly using the IRS, DOJ and other federal agencies to harass his policy opponents.

It is for this reason that I am so disappointed in Mr. Obama's offensive political rhetoric. He is not bringing Americans together in post-partisan unity to confront our mutual challenges. Getting down to the level of Dick "Everyone not supporting me is an Enemy" Nixon was just too retrograde, too inside the Beltway business-as-usual for this "First Citizen of the World" new style American President. Now, u might also have a fuller understanding of my opposition to unfettered Presidential power to terminate with extreme prejudice designated enemies of the state. Just saying...

Ten Days to Go

In putting into practice this Blog's creed - an informed citizen is an involved citizen - I spent the better part of Friday working in the campaign headquarters of the first time Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives for the Third District of New Jersey (not my district). The House candidate for whom I have volunteered is Mr. Jon Runyon, a retired offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles (not my team), former University of Michigan footballer (definitely not my team), and Tea Party fave (certainly my team). Jon is opposed in this "toss up" election by two candidates, John Adler, first term Democrat, and by a fictitious Tea Party candidate invented by the Demos to siphon just enuff mislead voters from Mr. Runyon to keep Pelosi devotee, Adler in DC.

The highlight of my participatory day in democracy occurred when Governor Christie arrived with Mr. Runyon to speak to the troops. His talk was almost perfect, after he and the rock hard, six foot five, still very athletic Runyon walked to the podium, we could all see the gleam in the Governor's eyes, as if the obvious difference in physical stature even amused him. Mr. Christie first dazzled the assembled campaign staff with his self deprecating humor, before extolling Jon's many small government, greater freedom convictions and finishing up by assuring us that our collective efforts were essential to the Candidate's victory on November second.

Most assuredly, this face time with the Candidate, the Governor and some fifty fellow citizens instilled in me more fervently than anything (other than writing this Blog) that individuals can make a real difference in the Life of the Nation. As Ben Franklin told us so famously in responding to the crowd question - "what have you given us?" - as he left Independence Hall after the ratification of the Constitution - "A Republic, for so long as you can keep it."

Now with less than ten full days until November 2, 2010, I urge everyone to actively campaign for these final crucial days , so when your Grandchildren ask you decades from today - "What did you do during the Great Election that saved/lost the Republic, Grandpa/ma?" - your answer will be a resounding - "everything I could do" and not - "nothing" . Just imploring...

Why I married a Coal Miner's Daughter/Ah, those Clever Jews

No, Loyal Listeners, I have not combined two disparate or discrete Posts into one Blog Entry, despite the inference U may have drawn from the bifurcated title above. Let me tie together these two compatible subjects, brilliantly one presumes. My marriage, of course, keeps me grounded (and humble) as U see often right here. So, because of this nurturing relationship, last nite was a wonderful family celebration, sharing in the unbridled joy of the successful, so far, mine rescue in Chile. Not that a familial connection is necessary at all for participating in this great event of common humanity, where a medical tech willingly climbs into a capsule and goes 2000 feet underground to remain in the hole until everyone else is out. Just amazing, and witnessed live, it has been estimated, by more than one billion inhabitants of our SHARED planet.

OK, ready for the perfect segue - for decades now, we have been told that Peace will come to the Middle East, just as soon as the Jews and Palestinians agree on their respective SHARES of Palestine. Well guess what folks, while the entire planet has been justifiably transfixed on the unfolding miracle in South America (brought to us by American ingenuity - rescue tunnel and capsule US design and construction), the Peace Process collapsed in total ruins. The President has demanded a construction freeze in the "occupied territories" as a unilateral Israeli concession. In return, Israel simply requested that the Palestinian Authority issue a statement acknowledging that "Israel is now, and after the final peace agreement is signed, will be the national home of the Jews." The Palestinian leadership flatly refused to agree that Israel will continue to exist after the completion of this so-called peace process.

So much for trading land for peace. What a charade. The process that has been conducted since the early 1970s has been exclusively the Israelis giving land for empty promises of peace. This straight forward (and clever) request that the Palestinians say that at the end their will be an End - of the armed struggle to liberate Palestine - is long overdue and worthy of acknowledgment by the many billions of peace loving folks sharing our planet. Just saying...

President Obama Launches Death Panels

No, Elite Members, don't go rushing to Grandma's home; Kathleen Cruella Sebelius is not reaching to pull Grandpa's plug, YET. Instead, American citizens are now being designated for "targeted killings" by the Federal Government's Defense/Intelligence apparatus, using Predator drone attacks inside Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, and soon, possibly, in Cheyenne, Wyoming or Wasilla, Alaska. (See, Humble Post of September 7, 2010).

As a Former Elite Member said to me Friday: "The President has no legal authority to summarily execute American citizens, does he?" Well, Mags, that is the very Life and Death questions posed in the 9/7 Post, which inexplicably U forgot already, hence your current status, along with "Out in the Wash", Tom. So, just one last reminder, on 9/7, it was said that war is too important to left to the Generals or the Courts, so we must have a national debate on the President's wartime power to kill identified American citizens as enemies of the State. As expected, Your Humble Blogger's Clarion Call was immediately answered. On 10/6, National Columnist, Jonah Goldberg, wrote in his very derivative article:

"Any number of credible reports say the US-born al-Awlaski is the world's leading al Qaeda propagandist. He has directly inspired and recruited terrorists to kill US troops and civilians. ... So I hope he gets his toe tag sooner rather than later." ... The Obama Administration is right: this is no job for the courts. Wars and how we fight them are political decisions, properly left to Congress and the President. ... So let's have Congress and the President come up with some clear, public rules [for targeted killings]."

My two reactions to JG opinion piece: (1) hey, my free speech is his paid speech. I asked for a national debate, so no whining permissible when an acolyte picks up the cudgel. (2) I'm just a bit uncomfortable w/. marking for legal assassination a citizen identified as a "leading propagandist" who merely inspires volunteers for any cause, however despicable. Nonetheless, at the end of the day, I must say that I am very pleased that the debate has now begun in earnest. Jonah Goldberg asserts that selecting al-Awaki for death is an easy decision. I'm not so sure, particularly as Your Humble Blogger himself has been described by some as an inspiring conveyor of ideas for the cause of conservative values. Accordingly, JG's very aggressive response to my demand for the political branches of government to address this crucial war powers' authority exemplifies why Mags and everyone else should join this Great Debate now vehemently and loudly. Let your voices be heard in the public square tomorrow.

Bernard Schwartz (aka Tony Curtis), R.I.P.

Trust me, loyal listeners, this Blog is not turning into the Obits. Nonetheless, it would be disrespectful, if not distasteful, not to mention the passing of a God of Film, such as occurred yesterday. Particularly, when George Blanda's life was so recognized recently.

Mr Curtis, lived long and hard, falling prey to the easy access to the temptations of the Hollywood lifestyle - drugs, booze and babes. Nonetheless, Mr. Schwartz served his country honorable in wartime by enlisting in the US Navy, but, as with the A.G. of Connecticut, he was not ordered to a war zone during WWII. Nor did Mr. Curtis volunteer to be air dropped into Dien Bien Phu with GB.

Probably best remembered for his rollicking impersonation of Cary Grant in "Some Like It Hot", staring with Jack Lemmon, his greatest film by far was "The Vikings", in which he played the bastard son of Viking King Ragnar and after living as Ragnar's slave for 25 years, orders his hunting hawk to pluck out his older brother's eye, then at the film's climax, despite the earnest pleas of Janet Leigh, he stabs his bro to death, takes Janet as his bride and becomes the new Viking King. And never forget the Viking funeral - flaming arrows alite the barge floating out of the Bay, taking Kirk douglas to his eternal rest in Valhalla. They just don't make movies like that anymore.

Such a Hollywood Classic is "The Vikings", that an elite member, Big Al, purchased a DVD copy thereof, among a cornacopia of Rare Americana for $125.00 at the August Charity Outing. My understanding is that he has rented it out more than two dozen times already. Just saying...

George Blanda, R.I.P.

As sports, we know, are more important than life itself, today we honor the brutal life of a God of Sport - George Blanda: University of Kentucky Army R.O.TC., honor graduate 1948; Pro football quarterback and place kicker, 1949 - 1975; retired at age 48 before being inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1981.

Nonetheless, Mr. Blanda is best remembered for his meritorious service with the French Foreign Legion, commanding an artillery platoon at Dien Bien Phu, Feb. thru April (off season) 1954.

Hey Barry, I've got your Back at last

New Bob Woodward Book, Obama's Wars, details how the President demanded (before approving 30,000 troop Surge last December) of his Generals an Exit Strategy for Afghanistan. So, he got one right at last; ok, partially right anyway. I'm with Joe Biden on Afghanistan - we should end forthwith the occupation of the "Graveyard of Empires for 3000 Years" (See, Post of 8/21/09 below), not just starting in July of 2011.

Many Republican pols. and the Party's House Organ, Fox News, have served up a bitter pill of vitriol - "President refuses to Win the War". Get Real guys, Togo is not coming to the Battleship Missouri anytime soon to surrender to MacArthur. Peace in Afghanistan is and always will be a Chimera, a Mirage, a Delusion, a Phantasm even. (8/21 Post).

Then they add - "President refuses to listen to his top Generals". Good for him then. President Obama is the one Elected Commander-in-Chief, so any contention that only the Pentagon gets to decide national defense policy in wartime is just nonsense. (See Abe Lincoln).

So, I say again (8/21/09 Post) the Time is Right to Declare Victory in Afghanistan and bring the troops Home Now. Just pleading ...

Why Dien Bien Phu Still Matters - Deuxieme

As I anticipated, a veritable chorus of condemnation has fallen upon Your Humble Blogger over yesterday's memorial Post. Ok, not exactly; indeed, the only feedback seeped in from Mom and Aunt Pat. (Pat recalled, with a tear in both eyes, her dear memories of June 19th, as would be expected). Mom, however, related how my brother assured her that the French soldiers at Dien Bien Phu were not heroic freedom fighters. Rather, my envious Bro. (sibling rivalry truly does have its dark side) told Mom that the thousands of French soldiers volunteered to die so that their rich countrymen could continue to exploit Viet laborers on their rubber plantations. Yeah Right!

As a real student of history (Bro. just dabbles), I have interviewed a large number of Dien Bien Phu survivors (yes hyperbole: I did read a few oral histories). To a Man, the heroes of the Big Frontier Administrative Center attested to their condemnation of colonial oppression of the indigenous Vietnamese population. The French paratroopers without exception saw themselves as being like the "Brave Texans at the Alamo" fighting, and dying willingly, for the defeat of Godless commie bastards, who they knew were the real oppressors of peoples.

Yes, Virginia, (and Kim Robert Onsdorff) the French martyrs of May 8, 1954 deserve the appellation of the Glorious Dead, and are fully worthy of honor as protectors of American values. Just saying again...

Why Dien Bien Phu Still Matters

Well, loyal listeners, Do U remember exactly where U were -

* October 4, 1957 (USSR launch of first earth satellite);

* October 29, 1956 (Brits and French seize Suez Canal);

* May 8, 1954 (French army surrenders at Dien Bien Phu);

* June 19, 1949 (Your humble blogger born).

Subsequent Posts will examine how the World has been changed, some say saved, by three of these events. As the title above implies, we now return to the winter and spring of 1954, when thousands of doomed french army volunteers parachuted into the equivalent of Little Big Horn, many after their Custer-like fate had been sealed and THEY KNEW IT. (An aside, I have always been struck by the lyrical ring of the place's name, and in researching this Post I learned that its is not merely a translation of the Vietnamese, it means "Big Frontier Administrative Center", Weekly Standard Cover Article, 9/13/10, pg. 22. Kinda takes away some of the magic, indeed).

Whatever; the Question remains - why exactly does Dien Bien Phu matter, more than a half century later?

It does because, as does Khe Sanh, Mogidishu and Anbar Province, western civilization must honor and never forget the "Glorious Dead", those warriors who gladly gave their last full measure of devotion to the Idea of personal liberty and national freedom.

As the beneficiaries of these sacrifices - thousands of french heroes perished at the "BFAC" - we civilians are constantly urged from their long lost graves to make their deaths not to have been in vain.

All they ask is that we participate fully in the benefits and solemn obligations of republican government - not to bestow the consent of the governed passively by our silence. Accordingly, please let your Voice be Heard in the public square between today and Election Day 2010.

Why Sports are more important than Life Itself

NO, loyal listeners from Venus, it is not because watching goes so well with drinking beer; Sports have such significance because Merit is always rewarded, the sensible Rules are always enforced by Disinterested Persons qualified to do so, and Wrong Doers are appropriately sanctioned to preserve the Integrity of the Game. In this alternative Universe, we from Mars have proof of the existence of GOD - the Office of the Commissioner.

So, after hearing of these random events, even the most pious may ask: Is God Dead?

* Derek Jeter fakes getting hit by a pitched baseball, thereby stealing first base. He has sinned.

* Derek Jeter then joked about his larceny - mortal sin, as both the Queen and the Ump were not amused.

* Philadelphia Eagles coaches allow concussed player (seen by the entire world knocked out cold) to return to play after five minutes of head injury testing on the sidelines.

* Eagles next day acknowledge severity of brain damage sufficient to hold player out of practice and games indefinitely.

* NFL Commissioner next day announces that five minutes of sideline testing was an inadequate amount of time for a thorough neurological evaluation.

* No one in Eagles organization, NFL management or NFL Players union acknowledge the obvious: We don't need no stinkin sideline testing; when a player goes down like a stone, he is no longer a player, but a patient sent to the hospital not sent back to the huddle. Shame on All.

*USC running back Reggie Bush self stripped of his Heisman Trophy for taking agent payments under the table. USC running back O.J. Simpson keeps his Heisman Trophy, allowing him to receive his annual candidate ballot, invitation to attend the Award Ceremonies and Award Dinner, open only to the living members of the Trophy Winners Club. O. J.'s travel to this NYC celebration each December remains discretionary, however, within the sole prerogative of the Nevada Commissioner of Prisons until 2039.

* Alex Rodriquez, after looking at a non-called third strike, hits a three run walk off home run.
Go figure.

Vacations are Done; Time to go back to Work

Citizenship, like freedom, should and is not free of responsibility. With the mid-term elections fast approaching, all informed Americans should be engaged in ensuring that our national government remains fully accountable to the governed. Crucial issues that are front and center include federal spending, taxes, debt levels and immigration.

I am now requesting Elite Members also engage their federal representatives and candidates on an issue currently getting zero attention in the public square - targeted killings of suspected terrorists - ACLU appellation. While showing immense distain for everything Bush, the current Administration has taken to Bush-originated Drone Bombings in Pakistan, and elsewhere, as if this taking of life was totally consequence free. Possibly it is, U say, as these terminations w/. extreme prejudice affect only a few individuals at one time. Not so fast, loyal listeners.

Due to the absence of debate on lawful application of targeted terrorist killings inside the political branches, the ACLU last week sought to invoke the federal courts to control this War Power of the President. A more unworkable means to establish national policy can not be devised. Accordingly, to prevent unaccountable judges, with zero war fighting expertise, from running the Pentagon and CIA, we must demand that Congress address this issue, that if left to the Judiciary could cripple our nation's military defense against Radical Islam, making it exclusively a criminal prosecution enterprise.

ACLU states: "In zones of armed conflict, targeted killing can be a lawful tactic." ACLU wants a Judge to designate the exact geographic boundaries of the ongoing war, so that terrorists will be told where to move to be given full immunity from attack in such sanctuaries. ACLU states: "Innocent people will be executed, w/o. criminal charges, trial or any due process whatsoever. A wrongly imprisoned suspect may eventually be set free. But there is no recourse from a missile." In particular, ACLU demands that the court declare it is unconstitutional to bomb any location while targeting an American citizen, who can not be deprived of his life w/o. due process of law. Inevitable and Immediate Result: No foreign terrorist will live w/o. at least one sympathetic US citizen holding his hand - perfect buddy system for guaranteed survival.

All that said, completely uncontrolled federal authority to kill identified enemies of the nation is wholly unacceptable, as we know power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Accordingly, our Nation of Laws needs to have the lawful scope of targeted killings codified in a federal law, with the most intense scrutiny and oversight by Congress. War is too important to be left to the Generals or the Courts - to be waged consistent with our moral principles, we the people must govern ourselves in this matter of life and death. So let your voice be heard.

Summer's Last Edition of "Small Bites" sliding between your Ears

* President has Oval Office redecorated during his most recent two week vacation, hanging alternating bright yellow and pale yellow striped wallpaper thruout the room. Pattern/colors identical to my own 1950s era master bathroom (Photos to follow to Super Elite Members).

* No word on whether Mr. Obama has also redecorated the Presidential Yacht, or merely moved around its deck chairs for better viewing of the icebergs.

* On a more serious note (not that spending $800,000.00 on office decor in the current economy is not symbolically significant) Hamas brutally murdered four Israeli civilians, including a pregnant mother, leaving seven other children as orphans. Hamas' Boss Thug then issued a Public Statement congratulating the killers as courageous heroes in its war of extinction against the Jews.

* Presently, I am unaware of any Public Statement from the European Union, Turkey or the United Nations; indeed no calls for sanctions or creation of an International Commission to get to the bottom of the underlying causes of this slaughter of innocent life, or demands for the perpetrators' bosses to be brought to justice. Nothing, nada, niet....

* Perhaps, however, these four jewish citizens of Israel will not have died in vain, should their murders remind the world of the underlying causes of the IDF's poorly executed boarding of the one blockade runner boat off the Gaza Strip, for which the above named entities got their worthy international commission. Hey, it exists, so lets just give it an expanded agenda.

8/28/10 RESTORING HONOR RALLY 8/28/10

"Yet Brutus says he was ambitious,
And Brutus is an Honorable Man." J.Caesar, Act 3, Scene 2;

Having traveled to our nation's capital to experience a national "happening" on Saturday, I can now report my personal observations and let U decide on the meaning of this gathering of more than one half million of your countrymen. First, I believe that Glenn Beck is a sincerely honorable man, misguided, but not a dishonest huckster. He had to have spent more than two million dollars of his own money to hold his Mall Rally, while raising $5.5 million dollars for military servicemen's widows and children. Know a person and a tree by its fruits - no arrests, no confrontations with infiltrators, no damage to the Mall or its environs and a positive message of the need for America to return to our nation's founding principles of self reliance, individual sacrifice and equal opportunity to all those willing to work hard to achieve success based solely upon their own labors.

So, with so much good observed, where comes the misguided conclusion? Well, Glenn Beck seemingly believes that he has been chosen by God to Save us all from the fires of Hell. Two examples of such a Messianic complex should suffice to demonstrate the danger of going into the Deep End of that Pool. Glenn Beck told us that the favorable weather on Saturday was given to him as a Gift from the Lord. God's modification of weather in DC, but not in Pakistan over the recent weeks (where tens of millions are currently in dire danger due to unrelenting rains and consequent floods) leads to legitimate concerns about the Lord's priorities in the selection of his/her favors.

Once before I heard a politician almost go over the cliff by identifying himself as God's Chosen Instrument on Earth. Rudy Gulliani, in answering a reporter's question about how close "His Honor" came to death at the World Trade Center on 9/11/01, started to say: but for God's intervention, he would have died. He got about half that answer out, caught himself and answered "Just lucky". A Deity to have intervened for the mayor's survival (while 3000 + others were allowed to die in the most horrible ways imaginable - burn to death or jump out a window 1000 feet above the street below - which gruesome end dozens chose), gives rise to very uncomfortable questions as to the nature of that Divine Spirit, or as with Mr. Beck, that individual's view of his own righteousness and the unworthiness of all others.

This "I'm a Prophet" aspect of Beck's zealous crusade to save us most probably will end badly, as Imus has told us repeatedly. Just saying ...

Ground Zero Mosque, Part Deux

This "Victory Mosque" controversy is undoubtedly causing the Jihadists to hold their sides, they are laughing at us so hard. That is, should radical Islam permit guffawing w/o. the immediate stoning of the miscreant expressing a sense of the joyousness of everyday life.

Accordingly, my goal here is to end this controversy once and for all. We opponents are not "Muslim haters", "bigots" and most certainly, not "uninformed, narrow minded bigoted haters", particularly so when we oppose the GZM on the grounds that its Hallowed Ground location will embolden our nation's enemies, while sowing discord, dissension and disharmony among disenchanted Americans.

Now, to educate the GZM proponents, so as to terminate this cancerous tumor on our national unity. They have been directed not to call this project the GZM. Correct: the "Lower Manhattan Mosque" is not going to be constructed adjacent to the site of the 911 attack on NYC. In fact, the GZM is proposed for construction on the site of this terror attack - the former Burlington Coat Company building itself was damaged by the landing wheels of the plane hitting the World Trade Center, which "bomb debris" crashed thru the building's roof.

Building a monument to this successful attack on western civilization does not constitute a beacon of tolerance, inter-faith communication and educational outreach. It is another tactic in their struggle to educate us infidels, non-believers on who's winning this holy war. To refuse to be subjugated, is not bigoted or Un-American. It is the most patriotic, life affirming stance informed citizens of our threatened country can take. Just saying ...

Why Kevin and Allen are my BFFs

Bad judgment? Hardly; they are two of the sharpest tacks in the tool box. So, it really comes down to this: they are both great guys who are a credit to their race, community and families.

A few well chosen examples - Kevin's Charity Golf Outing on Friday was truly spectacular - perfect weather, huge turnout and best of all, more than $45,000.00 raised for a world-class cancer foundation. Allen and his company, Newfields, was a primary Event Sponsor, ensuring its huge success, and many of its employees and partners played, most not well, however.

The Event highlight came just before the silent auction, when the Mom of a now fully healthy 8 year old (in attendance and joyously at play in the room) spoke so eloquently about how the Jimmy Fund had cured her 4 year olds leukemia and as equally wonderfully, had poured compassion and nurture on the struggling family members. 140+ very macho men in the room and NOT A DRY EYE among us.

When discussing this emotional moment w/. Kevin and his beautiful wife, Carol, the next morning, I explained how inadequate I felt then about my own contributions to the betterment of mankind. Carol immediately admonished me: "Keith, U are a good person."

I felt touched by an angel (apparently Carol has never read any of my posts). So moved was I that I made sure to reach out and engage Kevin and Carol's two beautiful kids when leaving their home, telling the older sibling w/. long gorgeous curly hair "Boy, what's wrong with your parents, don't they own any combs." Kevin told me that his daughter will probably not soon agree with her Mom's appraisal of my worthiness.

My foursome won the TOP prize - in the losers bracket. Our scramble score of 81 allowed us to come in dead last, thereby earning each of us the booby prize - a $75.00 all silk tie. So much better than having come in next to last. (Al, please forward this Post to Eric and Andy with my thanks for their assistance to adding to my fashionable wardrobe).

Finally, Al is now the proud owner of four 'Random Thoughts": framed and autographed. While the sole bidder, his JOY in winning these items at auction appeared to be entirely genuine.

As I said, that's what makes a BFF. Thanks guys, "I love you men, but only in a good way." Just saying ...

Mosque at Ground Zero

So, are U feeling the inter-faith love yet? I'm sure that Elite Members have been greatly anticipating my insights on the Anointed One's endorsement of the Mosque at Ground Zero (GZM) in the midst of his Ramadan Celebratory White House Dinner Friday night.
Get yourselves belted, 'cause its going to be a bumpy ride.

First, let me remind U that the Anointed One selected this unconstitutional (absence of separation of Church and State) gathering as the proper venue to repudiate his own prior pronouncements that a Muslim Shrine located adjacent to American hallowed ground was exclusively a "local issue", suitable only for debate and democratic resolution by New Yorkers. Guess even Barry has no respect for the publicly stated policy positions of Barrack Obama.

My position, however, is unchangeable. National policy decisions can never turn on the supposed or real hurt feelings of the 911 families. Sensitivity to the personal sensibilities is best left to individual caring and sincere inter-personal nurturing. The determination of the appropriate national policy on the GZM should only be evaluated in its historical (and present) wartime context.

It is a matter of historical record that a central tenet of radical Islam is for the conquering Warriors of Allah to construct a holy mosque at the site of every major victory over the evil infidels to reinforce, in perpetuity, that these infidels have been made subservient to the one true religion. Examples abound - the Temple Mount Mosque, East Jerusalem, Israel; Central Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey.

So much for the GZM being a beacon of inter-faith understanding and educational outreach to the uniformed communities of Christians and Jews of Manhattan. Oh, right, it is definitely a beacon, a shrine and a demonstration for our understanding and instruction - they won, and we lost, on September 11, 2001. . . . Just saying.

More Small Bite Sliders

Loyal Listeners -

(1) Take heart, particularly our elite members of the Venus persuasion. Starting today, there is pro football televised live every weekend thru the second week of February 2011.

Should Just Talking be declared to be a Crime...

... most likely I would be doing 25 years to Life for my humble, yet incorrigible, bloveating. Indeed, today's Post marks two significant milestones - 1 year of www.distribution, and the 100th "Random Thoughts" posting. In this appropriately celebratory vein, to our Elite Members, I say:

Thank you for making this Blog everything you have always wished for, and more.
Furthermore, I reaffirm my commitment to keep your First Amendment Rights and Duties vitally alive as you exercise your responsibilities as an engaged, and often enraged, citizen.

Turning to this sacred mission, I quote the lead federal prosecutor in summing up the government's case against former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich:

"Talking is the crime here, ladies and gentlemen ... you don't have to be
a successful criminal to be a criminal."

While I have no book with defending Governor Blago as other than the most talkative buffoon ever, I am deeply troubled by the Government's excessive prosecutorial zeal; indeed, here, what we apparently have is not a crime; instead its life imitating art. Will we see the police making arrests for "Future Crimes", irrespective of Tom Cruise exposing the Minority Report?

Please Loyal Listeners, think about the implications of mere talking being criminalized. What next? Will writing evil ideas in your personal diary also to be prosecuted? Will an individual's thinking bad ideas cause the Thought Police to be unleashed upon daydreamers? Or worst of all, will the day arrive when Your humble Blogger is to be indicted, tried and imprisoned for broadcasting legitimate criticisms of the Anointed One? Just saying...

Jobs, Jobs, We Don't Need No Stinkin Jobs

The Obama administration spent a whole lot a "Change", more than ONE TRILLION DOLLARS, in the "Hope" that pouring unfathomable amounts of money (taken from our grand children's future well being) into the US economy would create millions of new private sector jobs. This exercise of Keynesian stimulus on steroids argues that by expanding aggregate demand for goods and services, employers will expand their businesses (hire new workers) to meet the increased demand created by all this newly circulated money.

Regrettably, this 1930s British economic theory is no match for 2010 American real world economic realities. Two federal legislative intrusions into the private sector marketplace in the last six months - Health Care Reform and Financial Wall Street Reform weigh in at a muscular four thousand six hundred pages of impenetrable legalize that Princess Pelosi tells us can not be understood until AFTER these laws have been implemented by the adoption of the more than 1900 new federal regulations called for in these two statutes.

Talk about a business investment environment beset by uncertainty. Because of Obamacare and Dodd's takeover of our financial markets, venture capital prudently is frozen until the billions of dollars in new business costs are made known over the next five years of rule making by hundreds of new boards, commissions, agencies, and on and on infinnitum. Nonetheless, the Pols in DC who have never made a private sector budget in their lives tell us that "prosperity is just around the corner".

What part of the total inability of employers to make accurate business financial plans for the next five years does this White House not understand? Rather than fostering certainty, BIG BROTHER is hiring thousands of lawyers and bureaucrats to write thousands of new regulations imposing substantially higher costs on businesses for each new (and existing) employee for health care benefits and borrowing for expansion. How much higher regulatory compliance costs are confronting our private sector investors? Obviously, these massive new obligations on businesses can not be calculated, until the only growth sector in this economy finishes its work over the next half decade - the bureaucrats must speak before the private sector can adopt new business growth budgets.

Fortunately, one viable solutions presents itself for both this lag in new job hires and the long lead time for rule promulgations. Congress should authorize the President to immediately hire two to three million more lawyers and bureaucrats to finalize all these regulations by Labor Day Weekend, so the private sector can start making new budgets with accurate cost decisions for business growth in the Spring, as predicted by Chauncey Gardener. Just saying...

More Sliders: Some Might Say "Cheap Shots"

(1) Generallissimo Francisco Franco is still dead, as is George Patton Steinbrenner, no longer the Boss of anyone.

(2) Professor David Francko, Inventor of the Wonder Product, FreezePruf, remains very much alive, as he denies that FreezePruf has any applications in preserving the viability of human tissues.

(3) Federal Court Judge yesterday declared "The Stolen Valor Act" to be unconstitutional, finding it violative of First Amendment protection of free speech. This ruling was rendered despite the amicus brief filed by State of Connecticut Attorney General Blumenthal in support of its penal sanctions for publicly pronounced war record falsehoods.

(4) In responding to my prior Blog Posting about Senator Byrd's KKK membership, the current spokesperson for former President Clinton proclaimed that "Bubba unequivocally condemns racially based lynchings whenever employed to improve electability to federal office, even state offices."

(5) Senator Byrd himself remains dead, so he has released no statements regarding the release of his Home Depot credit purchase records - $350.00 per annum for rope, knotting instructions included.

(6) Enuff already about the nearly departed. Jake Cohen, Davidson College Sophomore, is currently leading the Israel National U20 bb team in summer league play in Jerusalem.

More Sliders, Just Right Down the Middle

Let me preface this Posting by acknowledging that I have been truly humbled by the outpouring of extravagant praise heaped upon Your Now, Truly Humble Blogger by the Indiana contingent of Manly Men - collectively known as 'TheBori", against whom all resistance is futile.

So, in this context of sincere appreciation for the ten (10) comments posted on July 6th, I offer up the following:

(1) Lebron James can not be faulted for abandoning Cleveland, have you ever been there for more than three days in a row? We are the land of opportunity, after all.

(2) Lebron James can be faulted for the tactless way he abandoned Cleveland.

(3) Bubba Clinton at the Senator Bird's Wake defamed every single adult resident of West Virginia, saying that a WVa. political good old boy could not be assured of election to a federal office w/o. joining the KKK. Membership required, lynchings optional.

(4) Barry Hussein Obama told an interviewer that the people of Israel have found disfavor with him because his middle name is "Hussein", not his policies which have riled
them to fits of fear for his ending 63 years of commitment to the jewish national home.
At least the Anointed One didn't defame them by calling the Israeli people mind numbingly stupid for questioning him based upon something he had no control over whatsoever -
what his parents put on his birth certificate. Oh wait, Barry could have changed his name.

(5) While it all may just come out in the wash, Your Humble Blogger is tentatively scheduled to be in Columbus, Ohio on November 27, 2010 (without Lebron's company) in order to witness "that University Up North" receive another polite spankin, i.e., lesson in football etiquette. Just saying ...

AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM

Today, we celebrate the 234th Anniversary of the Greatest Secular Idea in Human History:

"AMERICA"

So, let us examine this Universally Acclaimed Truth - America is uniquely benevolent (not nearly perfect) but, in the great affairs of nations, always the leading empowerment of human rights, peace and individual prosperity:

"For we shall be a Shining City on a Hill." John Winthrop, 1630; Ronald Reagan, 1980;

"And for the support of this Declaration, ... we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor." Thomas Jefferson, and 56 other Signers, July 4, 1776;

"A New Nation conceived in Liberty and dedicated to the proposition that All Men are
Created Equal. We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain - that
this Nation, under God, shall have a new birth of Freedom." Abraham Lincoln, 1863;

Regrettably, this universal acclimation has one notable exception - "I believe in American Exceptionalism just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British Exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek Exceptionalism." Barry Hussein Obama (full given name by parents). By universal consensus, the most recent contribution by the nation of Greece to the advancement of the human condition was prior to 332 B.C. when its last real leader died at 32 years of age.

For me, I will keep counsel instead with Jefferson/Lincoln/Winthrop:

America is and always shall be the The One Shining City, a Beacon of Light
to the whole World, having malice toward none and charity for all, so
we shall as one unique people strive on to finish the work we do to
achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and w/.
all nations. May it ever be true, because all peoples strive to be embraced
by the shining light of liberty and justice that is uniquely American.

Some say "Sliders", as a Straight Shooter, I say "Small Bites"

(1) Who banned black caddies from televised PGA golf tournaments?

(2) What international sports governing body allows its referees to call secret penalties?

(3) Didn't anyone inform Dustin Johnson that the United States Open is a four round tourney?

(4) Did I mention how bad soccer sucks?

(5) When was the last time a White House physician told a sitting President to knock off hitting the sauce?

(6) This time, the President got it exactly right: General Stanley Dufoos McChrystal had to go quickly, if not at least quietly. (See, this blog is not just another anti-Obama screed).

(7) Lebron "King" James will leave Cleveland and sign w/. the Golden State Warriors next week, thereby teaming up with his idol, Stephen Curry.

(8) At the Alumni golf outing two weeks ago, the Bucknell bb coach told me that the University could not afford to travel all the way to North Carolina to play Davidson College. Do you smell the aroma of spoiled chicken? Just saying. . .

Our Constitutional Republic is in Jeopardy

First, in the interest of full disclosure, I am a big BP stockholder. Other winners in my portfolio include Lucent Technologies, GE and Westinghouse Air Brakes. Ok, now that you have a deeper understanding of my long term commitment to the crucially important profitability of this Blog, today's Post examines the Constitution's Guarantee to Due Process Protections every person (including a corporate individual) is afforded prior to the federal government depriving that individual of his/her freedom or private property.

President Obama, a former Con Law professor, is well schooled on this fundamental principle of the Rule of Law. Indeed, he designated the Christmas Day Undie bomber to be merely an alleged criminal, because no court trial has adjudicated his guilt of having set his own pants on fire. Nonetheless, last night the President told the nation that in meeting with BP executives today, he would be directing them to set aside up to $20,000,000,000.00 for payment of Gulf of Mexico oil leak claims.

Wow; no charges, no trial, no jury verdict, just the ex parte imposition of a potential corporate death sentence on nothing more than the say so of the Big Guy. The President has cited no federal statute that empowers him to reach into the BP pocket and seize its private funds. The reason for this absence of Speech citation is obvious - there is no lawful authority for Presidential confiscation millions of BP stockholders (mostly widows and orphans) retirement investments.

The road to dictatorship always starts with small extra-legal acts that go almost unnoticed and unprotested by the nation's lawmakers. In this presidency, our slide toward abject servitude began with one phone call. In February 2009, Mr. Obama fired the CEO of General Motors Corporation. Author Ben Stein wrote, that upon calling the White House to ascertain the specific federal law the President utilized in depriving this individual of his livelihood, he was told by the Press Office: "None Needed." Gentlemen, ladies and Georgette, that act of Chicago style thuggery is the very antithesis of the Rule of Law. So, be afraid, be very afraid.

John Wooden, Wizard of Westwood; R.I.P.

A Life well lived, indeed. Coach Wooden of Tinseltown, U.S.A. may have lived most of his years in Hollywood, but he never went all L.A. Cool. For all of Mr. Wooden's ninety-nine years, he never changed his fundamental values, stating whenever asked: "A life spent devoted to others is a meaningful life." and "One's success is best measured by achieving the maximum effort you have to give, whereas victory is merely an incidental outcome." Eternal words for sure.

This Time Israel did Mess Up the Bed Spread

In an earlier Post, your humble blogger congratulated the Israeli Defense Forces for its mafia style hit on an enemy combatant in a Dubai hotel suite, which was re-rented to another hotel guest without even a special cleaning. Not so yesterday. Regrettably, more than a dozen agent provocateurs were killed by the Israeli commandos who repelled onto the deck of the Turkish blockade runner. As the Esteemed One would say: "The Israelis acted stupidly."

It appears quite obvious that a PR trap was set by these "Palestinian Humanitarian Aid" deliverers. The IDF didn't just fall into it, instead, they jumped in feet first, giving their enemies bloody photos of martyrs aplenty. My very preliminary conclusion is that the Israeli leaders did not want a Waco style stand-off to continue unresolved for weeks or longer, while these ships continued to buzz around the Gaza Strip blockade boundary causing the Israeli Navy to remain at high alert enforcing this "No sail zone". Well, they did achieve a prompt end to this peaceable stand-off. The world condemnations and recriminations, however, will go on for years to come.

Self defense assertions by the IDFs are only accurate AFTER their commandos jumped these ships, sailing in international waters, and having taken no hostile actions prior to the 4:00 a.m. surprise visit. When useful fools want to die for their cause, you do not hand them a loaded gun. Just saying ...

Hurry; Hide the Women and Children, the Village Idiot is on the loose again

Anti-Terrorism Czar, John Brennan, shared his latest epiphany with the nation and world earlier this week speechifying: "Nor do we describe our enemy as 'jihadists' or 'Islamists' because jihad is a holy struggle, a legitimate tenet of Islam, meaning to purify oneself or one's community, and there is nothing holy ... about murdering innocent men, women and children."

Earth to John, connect the dots after pulling your Head out of your Ass - Jihad is not only a legitimate tenet, it is the central tenet of Radical Islam. Indeed, Jihad is to Islam what the Holy Crusades were to Christianity - preparation of the World for the return of Allah by its purification, through the subjugation of the infidels. Perversion of the Faith for sure, but still the central organizing principle of the Islamic religion for an untold number of willing martyrs lining up to collect their virginal reward in heaven. To these true believers, there are no "innocent" unbelievers, so those who will not convert to become follower of the One True Faith are legitimately killed in order to purge the Muslim community of followers of Satan.

Therefore, I say to JB: its time for U to purge yourself back into the real world in which our enemy is not engaged in an overseas contingency anomaly. Western civilization is threatened with subjugation by and to a radical murderous horde believing they are God's holy, anointed warriors. To pretend otherwise is unbelief of the soon to be dead kind. Just saying ...

The Strange Case of the Partial Full Disclosure, Limited Full Hang Out, Admiral

The U.S. Naval Academy has maintained its unwavering commitment to an Honor Code since 1845: "Midshipmen are persons of integrity. They stand for that which is right. They tell the truth and ensure that the full truth is known." Joe Sestak is a 1974 Honor Graduate of the Naval Academy, who served his country very honorably in war and peace for some thirty one years. He retired with two stars on his shoulder boards and the rank of Vice Admiral.

After his retirement, Joe Sestak decided to continue his service to our nation by seeking a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, which he won in his 2006 attempt. Having been re-elected in 2008, Admiral Sestak decided to seek his Party's nomination to the U.S. Senate, hoping to unseat five term incumbent, Republican RINO, Arlen Specter. This bid appeared to be stuck in dry dock, when all the Obama folks welcomed Arlen to the Party, along w/. its Pa. Senatorial endorsement. Not willing to see his ambitions so torpedoed, Joe challenged Arlen in the Demo. Primary for this nomination.

When asked by a reporter whether the White House had offered him a high level position in the Administration in lieu of prosecuting his campaign against Arlen, the Admiral answered "Yes Sir". Opps, Joe's apparent candor raised the specter of the commission of a federal crime by the offer of a job in return for changing the candidate composition for election to federal office.

When stonewalling for months failed to spike press demands for full disclosure (of the conversation that the White House acknowledged occurred with the Admiral to discuss a happy ending of his candidacy), David Axelrod threw poor Joe under the bus, joining Rev. Wright and the President's racist Grandmother. Yesterday, David stated: "There is no evidence that the White House has offered a job to Admiral Sestak, in exchange for dropping his Senatorial bid."

This Axelrod claim is false, as the unequivocal statement by Joe Sestak is very direct evidence indeed, unless the Admiral can be shown to be lying or delusional. I submit that the Obama Administration should not be supporting for high elective office, a person it views as either a blatant dissembler or mentally unable to engage in every day honorable political discourse.

Why the World is not following our Dear Leader

In one of his first official acts as President, Mr. Obama, on Day One of his misbegotten Administration, issued an Executive Order to himself that he has been flagrantly violating since January 20, 2010. As you will recall, he ordered himself to close Gitmo before the first year of his Presidency ended. Why you may ask, did the President publicly order himself to do something within his exclusive authority twelve months in the future? One plausible answer is that this very high profile Executive Order was issued for world-wide acclaim and respect to follow from this public act of contrition. He announced to the World that the United States now was returning to the norms of civilized nations, in which all good Americans abhor civil rights outrages, such as the purported Gitmo prisoner abuses perceived to be a major recruiting tool for the Islamist terrorists.

So, instead of just implementing the crucially needed "change" in national policy, the President merely offered his "hope" for a better country. Well loyal listeners, the world is still waiting for the President to keep his promise to himself. What must our allies think of the credibility of his promises to them, when he even lies to himself.

You already know what our enemies think of the Big Guy - he evokes no fear, no respect and certainly no credibility when he threatens them by saying he is keeping all "options on the table, including the military one" should a rogue nation like Iran or North Korea engage in any act of war or terrorist attack.

Indeed, this past year, North Korea exploded another nuclear bomb and torpedoed a South Korean navy destroyer, murdering 47 young sailors onboard this ship when it was attacked and sunk while patrolling in international waters. Hillary has promised our South Korean ally that a "very strong letter" will follow, to be sent to Beijing only. They are not impressed.

Time for the President to stop talking the talk, and start to walk the walk. Mr. President, if you really believe that Gitmo is a grave danger to our national security, prestige and image abroad, close it now and bring the terrorist suspects to NYC or DC for immediate civilian court trials. Please, do your job, or at least implement the changes you ordered yourself to do. Just saying...

Richard Blumenthal: Me think he Mis-Spoke Too Much

As brevity is the soul of wit, I will say only a few well chosen words of truth, some which actually came out of the mouth of the Attorney General: "When we returned from Vietnam, I remember the taunts, the verbal and even physical abuse we encountered." [Trust me, Rich, more to follow soon.]

"On a few occasions, I have misspoken about my service ... but I will not allow anyone to take a few misplaced words [honor, duty, country] and impugn my record of service to our country." [No need, Rich, cause no one does it better than you. You the best impugner, probably ever.]

Enough Said.

No One has alleged that Elena Kagan has ever bedded Harriet Miers

"This Story shall the good man teach his Son and his [first granddaughter]; We few, we happy few, we Band of Brothers..."

Yes, we few white male protestant Constitutional lawyers and judges need not apply, as there is no room on the High court for we WASPs. Current make-up 6 Catholics, 2 Jewish believers.

Because Ms. Kagan is a blank slate - no experience as a judge, and but just one more Court oral argument than your humble blogger, it is imperative that the Senate undertake a comprehensive examination of her constitutional views, while being required to duck no confirmation hearing questions, as well as disclosing all her executive branch writings to the Committee. Indeed, five years ago, the then Junior Senator from Illinois, made an identical demand one day after then President Bush nominated SMU law grad Ms. Miers to the Court. We'll see now whether the President adheres to his own transparency standards.

Now, back to the President's similar commitment to diversity and equal opportunity for Americans of all stripes, as stated in his Nominating Announcement: "[Confirmation of Ms. Kagan will create]... a court that would be more inclusive, more representative, more reflective of us as a people than ever before." Please, stop the mendacity; I know its not raining, you ARE pissing on my shoes. With her ascension, the Supreme court will be peopled soley by Harvard and Yale law grads, with a simple majority being life long residents of either NYC or NJ.

Oh, did I point out that no protestants are now allowed to serve. We are not sure still as to the suitability of gays, closeted or not, but, I presume that you get my point that group identity politics is indefensible. No one's religious beliefs or sexual orientation should matter. It is exclusively the content of Ms. Kagan's character and her commitment to the American Constitution that matters.

Were she to commit to uphold the Constitution as adopted, while leaving the adoption of new civil rights to the will of the people through democratic elections, our great nation will be well served by her confirmation to the court, irrespective of whether she has a crush on Ms. Miers or not. Just saying...

The Only Dangerous Speech is that...

... which has been Banned or Punished by the Government.

As your humble Blogger has stated freely, the First Amendment is Numero Uno for a Good Reason. Too many have sacrificed too much for anyone to seek to diminish our citizenry's right to speak fully and fervently 24/7/365.

Accordingly, here is my homily (not a eulogy "Unwashed" Tom) on unfettered speech rights:
"And meanwhile, you're coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us all w/. all kinds of content and exposes us to all kind of arguments, some of which don't rank that high on the truth meter. ... " [Therefore, the degrees you are to be awarded today by this great University will be your safe harbor as you navigate this immense ocean of good and bad information. Your education has empowered you to shop skillfully in this chaotic marketplace of ideas, finding and valuing truth, while rejecting the falsehoods, lies and canards of fools. Our democracy tolerates all kinds of "wrong" speech, because any government intervention is rightfully banned by the Constitution. You must be your own judge of the worth of the ideas out there in the real world. I know you will succeed, because of your four years of diligent studies that we are celebrating today.] Excerpted from President Obama's May 9th Commencement Address at Hampton University. My additions shown by [brackets].

Here is the President's actual, complete statement on the marketplace of ideas: "... information becomes a distraction, a diversion rather than a tool of empowerment. Its putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy."

Oops; I can envision only two explanations for the President's antipathy toward the free market of ideas which immeasurably strengthens our democracy as every single citizen is empowered to write, read and listen to every imaginable speech w/o. fear or censorship: he thinks we are too stupid to decide what's true and false; or, he's setting the stage for government restrictions on those bad ideas he sees as threatening our democracy.

Its now your current First Amendment right to evaluate, debate, and decide as between potential causes for the President giving his speech and not mine. Remember, "The Truth is Out There" and I have every confidence you will find it by yourselves. Just saying ...

Rachel Maddow in Bed with Glenn Beck

Ok, please disregard the truth that some images are just too unpleasant to visualize. Take a deep breath and focus instead on Janet "the Clueless". Not a pretty picture there either. Ok, just think of her misreading the note she wrote on her left palm before going on the Sunday News Shows. Madam Secretary, the Times Square SUV bomber is not a "One Off", nor is he a "one of a kind", lone wolf, middle aged white male. Instead, he is just the latest in a series of completely undetected terrorist attackers, who completed their attacks (two, only by happenstance inchoate) prior to any U.S. Intelligence Agencies putting out "apprehend and detain" directives.

First, the Fort Hood Army Psychiatrist, then the Christmas Day Panty Bomber and now the NYC SUV car bomber. Anyone else out there getting a bit nervous that America is under a growing threat from radical Islamic Jihadists? If so, you ask - why? Well, see prior Blog: The War on Terror is Over, Only We Lost.

But, u say, the alleged NYC culprit is a naturalized American citizen arrested on American soil, so the Constitution absolutely requires that he be treated immediately and ONLY as a criminal defendant , including given all his Miranda rights before prosecution in civilian court. Well, not so fast partner.

I don't want Shahzad punished to the total exclusion of the needed federal government's protection of Americans in the ongoing WAR. Ironic isn't is that liberals always call conservatives as being too simplistic, seeing only absolute good and evil in a far more nuanced and complex world. Instead, please help me resurrect the Clinton Administration "Wall of Separation" between the DOJ and the CIA. Upon his capture, Shahzad should have been given a bifurcated classification - first, enemy combatant (EC), to be subsequently converted to a criminal defendant. As an EC, he would be interrogated exclusively by the Intelligence Agencies to gather actionable intel to protect us from future terrorist attacks. None of this EC information would or could be used against Shahzad in his subsequent civilian court prosecution. Then, when he is no longer vital to assist our national defense, he would be transferred back to DOJ for trial in civilian court, with the prosecutors limited to only pre-capture evidence gathered outside of his intel questioning.

Tell yourself if this nuanced and bifurcated government classification of Shahzad is just too complicated for the complex liberal mind. In answering this inquiry, please remember that the U.S. Constitution is not a suicide pact, irrespective of Rachel's and Glenn's love-fest hug demanding that no citizen be made subject to compulsory intel questioning in wartime, even when caught with their pants (or SUVs) on fire. Just saying...

When Fundamental Values Conflict

Not destructive as when worlds collide, but this dilemma is deeply troubling nonetheless.

The FIRST DUTY of all levels of government is the preservation of Public Safety, as w/o. civil order no other rights of citizenship can be maintained. Accordingly, unsecured, and thus porous, national borders put us all at risk to the violence spawned by narco-terrorists, jihadist terrorists, illegal immigrant smugglers and millions of undocumented aliens living outside the rule of law inside our country.

Seeking to stem this growing tidal wave of criminals invading the southwest, Arizona has enacted a law mandating that all police officers ascertain the immigration status of persons, whom after being stopped for a discrete lawful purpose, present a reasonable suspicion of being an undocumented alien.

The exercise of such intrusive authority by police runs contrary, however, to a core constitutional value, precious to all citizens - the right to be left alone by the government.
When engaged in any lawful pursuits either by walking, biking or driving, no American wants to be compelled to justify his presence within our country to a suspicious police interrogator.

Even when not abused by overt racial profiling, giving the police broad power to demand that an individual "show their papers" or face arrest is very problematic. At the very least, when I go out jogging now, I will need to carry my driver's license in my jock strap, which can be uncomfortable and insecure, leading to loss of proof of identity anyway.

Accordingly, the better national policy is for the federal government to just do its job and secure our southern border with Mexico. We need to end this crisis in Arizona, as emergencies lead to excesses in government power that again jeopardize our pursuit of happiness without Big Brother watching us constantly. Just saying ...

My Heart goes out to J.J.

I'm talking about current National Security Advisor and Retired Marine General James Jones. The good general deserves a big hug from every one of us who has ever given a nationally televised speech in front of a particularly intimidating audience.

Bad enuff General Jones has to service the Big Guy whose foreign policy is " I like you, so why don't you like me?", but he also has to manage the White House village idiot, John Brennan, who believes that only uniformed police officers can interrogate captured terrorists. So, you must cringe for this very serious man surrounded by veritable naifs and ignorant fools. But wait, your cringe response may have been premature.

In preparing his speech to the very Israeli friendly Washington Institute for Near East Policy, the good general was informed by the jokemeister himself, John Brennan, that all good public speakers garner an immediate rapport with their audience by starting off with a humorous story or anecdote. Thus the good general consulted the Web Site: "Best Jew Jokes by Muslims", in order to obtain material which would demonstrate the Administration's even handed status as an honest broker in the near east.

As you start to cringe, possibly even heading toward gag, you imagine how well that the good general connected with the room: he related a recent supposedly actual chance encounter in southern Afghanistan, in which a jewish merchant attempts to extort money from a dying taliban gentleman, as he had been wandering lost in the desert for several days before coming upon the Jew's textile store and asking for a drink of water.

This attempt to push the "Reset Buttin" with the good palestinians bespeaks a larger truth about the current gang that can't shoot straight in DC: there are no adults in charge who read this stuff and say to their peers: You've got to be joking, you're not really going to say that are you?" Just saying...

No Outrage, therefore: No Privacy in Oceania

As we know, "power corrupts and Absolute Power..." would destroy absolutely the only three inalienable rights our federal Republic guarantees: Life, liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. In his prescient Novel, 1984, George Orwell placed his protagonist, Winston Smith, in a future society in which the Government watched all its citizens through TV screens placed everywhere, including all rooms in Mr. Smith's home. Big Brother is all watching, all knowing, so all controlling. Everyone outside of the Stalinist Soviet Union recoiled in horror at the concept of this mad apparition of Absolute Power in the hands of a brutal central government.

Well, loyal listeners from a small tree - in this case a suburban Philadelphia school district, Lower Merion - comes this very poisonous fruit. By loaning lap top computers to its high school students, Merion school administrators watched unsuspecting users of the computers, taking some 56,000 still photos (including in home bedrooms and bathrooms) during periods of hidden live streaming surveillance. Every rational citizen's reaction is: what were these government watchers thinking?

Well, their own e-mails apparently characterized these spying activities as a mere diversion from boredom, entertaining fun, legal because the students had no reasonable expectation of privacy in their own homes when using a computer owned by the government. Unbelievable, almost comical, except that from merely egregious voyeurism, these spy photos were then used to punish at least one student for alleged misconduct in his bedroom medicating himself.

Well, this story has been unfolding for several weeks time, yet I see no statement from the President, or from others in the nation's political class. One shouting outburst by a Harvard professor toward his arresting police officer lead to a rebuke of the purported abuse of power by government personnel in Cambridge. Indeed, that non-event ultimately lead to a full blown beer Summit Meeting, hosted by the President at the White House.

Now, the nation is confronted with a precedent that leads inevitably to tyranny. Nonetheless, the Washington pols remain AWOL. Accordingly, we must make Lower Merion a critical matter of national concern through the public outrage of all of us - any and every citizen who wants to keep the Government's venal watchers out of our homes/bedrooms. Act now or "1984" will be our collective future and not a fictional story of hopeless subservience to Absolute Power. Just saying...

Immediate correction to Redskins Blog Entry

Loyal Elite members/listeners: a comment received just minutes ago from a competing blog, Gary's Sandbox, (obviously seeking to discredit your humble blogger) has stated emphatically that the Seminole Indian Tribe gets no money over the table from Florida State University. He made no representation regarding other less transparent transactions between the tribe and FSU, however.

I stand corrected, but also need to remind you all that the Seminole indians never rode any horses, never used war spears, burning or otherwise, and never gave autographs coupled w/. the words "scalp 'em".

So, it remains obvious that the tribe's purported overwhelming support of the University's mascot flows from its positive and accurate depiction of Seminole values, traditions and history.

Does Rooting for the Washington "Redskins" make you a Racist?

No. It merely connotes misplayed loyalty to a terrible football team. When the team name is mentioned, almost all informed fans think of huge, mostly white guys - "the hogs", the team's famous group of NFL Hall of Fame "offensive" linemen, during the Coach Gibbs' glory years.

I return to this possibly controversial topic of what words reflect presumed racist thoughts of the speaker because the PC Police are again on the warpath. So, its now time to circle the wagons. The state legislature of North Dakota, in conjunction w/. the NCAA, recently forced the University of North Dakota to drop a near century old sports nickname - Fighting Sioux. (Fighting Sioux expressly adopted to connote courageous warriors who often feasted on hordes of slain "Bison", nickname of the rival ND State University) replaced the prior nomenclature - "The Flickertails". No word on whether the University will go all retro, with their tails flickering between their legs, to inspire their sports teams and loyal fans.

A similar ambush was recently unleashed by the NCAA on the University of Illinois "Fighting Illini", as that sports nickname was deemed offensive to the Illini Indian Tribe. Regrettably, the NCAA failed to acknowledge that dead people feel no offense. The Illini tribe has left the arena with Elvis. There are no surviving members of the Illini Indian Tribe.

Also regrettably, the Florida State Seminoles have been formally exempted from this NCAA "across the board" ban on "hostile and abusive" sports nicknames. Millions of dollars in license fees are paid to the Seminole tribe by the University to make "benign and positive" the violent thrusting of a flaming battle spear toward the enemy side line by a war painted, horse riding student mascot at every home FSU football game.

So, when the NCAA finds no offense to tens of thousands of peaceful, living Seminoles and simultaneously finds egregious offense to the non-existent Illini tribe members, some college lessons of high minded morality and economics are more offensive than others. Just saying ...

Why Phil "the Mics" Masters Win Matters; Assault on Liberty

A loyal Elite listener has challenged me to write a seamlessly connected blog entry about two completely discrete topics. So, here is my effort to create a two-for-one entry having a credible nexus.

Upon sinking his tournament winning putt at the 18th hole on Sunday, Mr. and Mrs Mickelson shared an emotional embrace of true affection that, in duration, rivaled the phony hug/kiss the Gores subjected us to at the 2000 Democratic Presidential Nominating Convention. Then, we cringed in embarrassment at their exploiting their sound marriage, attempting to distance themselves from the phony Bill/Hilliary business deal. Americans crave genuine caring, integrity and basic honesty. Phil fits that bill, and we thank him for his integrity, while respecting the game of golf and all of its fans worldwide.

Upon sinking the Japanese Fishing School boat, the Eriham Maru, in February of 2001, U.S. Naval Submarine Commander Scott Waddle embraced his egregious dereliction of duty, apologized in person to the victims families in a solemn Tokyo meeting, and then accepted his immediate retirement from active military service in disgrace for having not prevented this fatal accident involving a staunch U.S. ally. This immediate banishment of Commander Waddle adheres to the inflexible rule of military discipline - screw-ups of the multiple fatal kind, however accidental, are also fatal to the responsible officer's career. The universal code of military conduct has a zero tolerance for "screwing-the-pooch" in peace time and in war time.

Upon (almost) sinking the unarmed spy ship, USS Liberty, in June 1967, the Israeli Defense Forces immediately apologized for this "accident", which included three separate waves of fighter plane and torpedo boat attacks over six hours of repeated attacks, seeking to sink both the ship and all the life rafts floated by the vessel's wounded and dying crew. The Israeli explanation stated that due to the calm weather and absence of any winds in the vicinity of the Liberty, the US flag hoisted on the Ship's stern was limp and not identifiable by the eight discrete surveillance flights that the Israeli Air Force flew over the boat, steaming at 20 knots, for four hours prior to the attack's authorization by IDF Hq. I challenge anyone who has sailed at 10 knots, let alone 20, to believe this "limp flag" contention. But, I digress by expressing my incredulity, prematurely.

Instead, let us examine the IDF's application of the universal code of military discipline to this spectacular screwing of the pooch, which resulted in the accidental killing of dozens of USS Liberty shipmates, serving honorably the staunchest ally of the nation of Israel. The Israeli raid leader, Captain Yiftah Spector, retained his commission in the Air Force, capping his heralded career 14 years later as the Wing Commander in the IDF, which he lead on Israel's 1981 attack on the Iraqi Nuclear Power Plant, Osirak, located near Bagdad. As a full bird Colonel and Group Commander, Yiftah Spector was not assigned to fly on this secret mission, until he arranged his participation in a fashion that still remains unknown.

Why is this sordid history relative today? Because recent news stories have reported that President Obama is preparing to impose a US designed peace settlement on Israel and the Palestinians, as this parochial, merely local irritant is impeding much broader US national security interests in the region - obtaining full Arab cooperation in deterring Iran's nuclear weapons development. Such arrogance and naivety would be comical were it not to being displayed by the leader of the free world, facing critical threats of our national security. Israel is a sovereign nation, which, when its national survival was threatened during the 1967 Six Day War, killed Americans.

To believe that the current US Administration has the capacity to impose any final Palestinian-Israeli settlement on Jerusalem is to believe that Tigre's dead father agreed to confront his wayward son from the grave with several thoughtful questions. The wounded Tigre still has not learned to respect the game of golf or its fans by being honest. President Obama apparently still does not respect the limits of his own authority to act as a honest broker of peace in the middle east. Two topics, one theme: personal integrity matters.

A Beautiful Mind, Mine

Already, a number of Elite Listeners have contacted me regarding the purported hyperbolic quality of the assertion (today's Blog Entry - The most beautiful course ever) that Duke (61 points) was not able to score nearly as many points against Butler as Davidson did (62 points).

Sorry, but that statement is not in anyway exaggerated, as DC scored all 62 of its points at Hinckle Field House, Butler's famous home court, there Duke scored 00. Having played Butler at Lucas Arena, Duke's total came exclusively at a neutral venue. Now, this example of the use of precisely accurate language is the reason why attorney at law is the most respected and beloved profession in our great nation.

Upcoming Visit to the Most Beautiful Course Ever

As I always keep my commitments, sometimes; so my blog entry today is not about an upcoming trip by me to Augusta, Ga. Been there, done that - in 1971, when I refused to speak to Mr. Arnold Palmer despite his asking me a direct question.

No, today we acknowledge the return of the "wounded tigre", seeking redemption and rebirth on the weekend following Holy Week. It is the considered view of this commentator that it will be a good Masters Tournament, should the gallery be limited to but one spectator incident during the first two days, after which the Big Guy will be gone. (Become a Super Elite Member to see details on how this vision plays out).

Now, one quicky, as time is short. Butler did absolutely everything, but make its last attempt at a basket. Great team , great game for the "White Bread" Championship. ( I was going to describe it as the white boy game, but in lite of my prior skin color literary device, I am way too chastised to do so.) More significantly, Duke was not able to score nearly as many points against Butler as Davidson did on their famous home court (see, movie "Hoosiers") on November 14th - Dawgs 73, Cats 62.

Spring: Season of Renewal, and hopefully, Forgiveness

This Blog has, for years, kept its commitment to never have Your humble Blogger as an Entry subject. Accordingly, this is a short Preamble - Last wednesday, Winter ended at the first ladies' tee, Pine Barrens Golf Club, central Florida. Paired up with a Kentucky couple, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, I went on to crush Marty 17 holes to 1 hole tie, while getting a very satisfying 1 hole win over Mr. Bill. Yes folks, I've got game, again.

Now, back to the real world. My last Entry brought the most severe rebuke from an Elite Member for my use of an intentionally provocative literary device, seen as voicing blatant racial slurs.

So, to anyone who may have been offended due to their own misunderstanding of my word selection i apologize. No insensitive disparagement of any peoples was intended in my criticizing the critics of America's WWII war fighting record in the Pacific Theater.

In Defense of so-called U.S. War Fighting Racism

Tom Hanks is truly a National Treasure, artistically speaking. No one has ever acted better with a face painted ball. Regrettably, Mr. Hanks has moved into an unscripted narrative in which he is clueless. America is not now and never has been a racist nation, sands our war of western expansion subduing native american indians.

Overlooking this one terrible blemish on our mid-nineteenth century history, (slavery was an unspeakable evil never abided by other than one region of the country) for which I do believe that we have sought to make just amends, cultural, financial and in the historic record, Mr. Hanks chose to compare our military response to the "Day that will Live in Infamy" with the manner in which we have defended ourselves against the radical Islamic terrorists - racially charged hate enflamed by our national conception that these enemies were/are somehow less than fully human. Nonsense, I say.

We fought total war in both Europe and in the Pacific to win as quickly as possible, thereby ending the suffering of all civilian populations involved as soon as possible. We attacked both enemy homeland residential/industrial cities relentlessly, killing both the capacity and
willingness of Germans and Jap civilian populations to pursue hostilities. No meaningful differences in strategy or tactics were utilized against either the master arian race or those yellow bastards. Indeed, the architect of the bombing campaign over Germany as well as Japan was the same individual, U.S. General Curtis LeMay, the developer of saturation, carpet bombing of upwards of contiguous, 20 mile square target zones in a single night's aircraft bombings.

What about the use of the Atomic bomb, you ask? Surely, the most straight forward answer is that the A-bomb was not perfected prior to Germany's surrender. Would the Bomb have been dropped on Berlin had it been available? Military planning records and President Truman tell us, yes. Nor did the former residents of Dresden, Germany deem themselves overly pampered when they were firebombed to death by the tens of thousands nitely for three straight days when the US dropped hundreds of tons of incendiary explosives on this city. These weapons of mass annihilation caused a vaporizing firestorm very similar to the blast effects of the A-bomb. The only difference is that the A-bomb caused chronic radiation sickness in the victims - unknown and unintended consequence to the US military. Still, was it more hate driven than the generals awareness of the consequences of being incinerated at 2500 degrees F. ? Hardly.

So, that even handed US war fighting in WWII stands well the test of time, and compares well with our nation's defense against Islamic radicals, who upon being interned at Gitmo have uniformly gained substantial weight, gotten full access to all recognized islamic religious materials prescribed for their daily observances, including clean prayer rugs always correctly oriented to Mecca, as well as individual and group recreational facilities.

Accordingly, I say to spoiled Tom-Boy: go tell it to the marines that they lived and died by the thousands throughout the Pacific, carrying out shameful war crimes in saving our country.

In Defense of Lawyers defending "so-called" Terrorists

Your Humble Blogger takes a back seat to no one in seeing no legitimate roll for CRIMINAL DEFENSE lawyers in the fighting the War on Radical Islamic Jihadists. While enemy combatants may well have also committed war crimes, their activities in making war on the United States allows for their legal detention under the Laws of War indefinitely w/o. first being convicted of a criminal offense and sentenced to a defined term of incarceration,

That said, however, not every individual taken into custody by the "All Knowing" Feds. has been correctly identified as an enemy combatant. Accordingly, the legal representation of persons designated as a Prisoner of War (after full interrogation) is legitimate, honorable and patriotic. It is one of the highest callings for American attorneys seeking to curb the arbitrary exercise of governmental power, not criminal defense counsel trying to get a plea deal for a guilty or not client.

So, Liz Cheney should be more conservative - a Federal Government w/. the Absolute Power to declare anyone as an Enemy of the State w/o. independent, neutral review of that designation can also just disappear her and her Father too. As we know, power corrupts and absolute power... just saying.
